Another day and another transfer rumour – but this is one I wouldn’t actually mind. Aston Villa are reportedly set to battle with West Ham United for Nottingham Forest Academy graduate Matty Cash.

23-year-old Cash popped up on our Transfer Forum Thread a good few days back as folks debated which players in the Championship looked capable of making the step up to the top flight and as if by magic, he’s now been loosely linked with us.

It’s claimed West Ham recently made a £10million bid that was rebuffed, so it would be a deal in the £15million region, and that could prove to be a snip if he keeps developing as he has done over the last few seasons. With over 120 appearances to his name, the versatile midfielder has found the back of the net 16 times in his career so far and in 2019/20 he was basically an ever-present who also chipped in with five assists – and that was from the right back position.

Capable of providing cover and an option anywhere on the right hand side, I think it would be £15million well spent.
