It’s Starting To Get Predictable Again At Villa – Match Stats
Well, Saturday was finally here and Steven Gerrard welcomed Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur side to Villa Park.
We went into the game hoping to end our run of three straight defeats, but we don’t make things easy for ourselves and after another round of shoddy defending, Son Heung-Min opened the scoring three minutes into the tie.
It was going to be another long day, but we were creating some chances, and the best effort probably fell to Jacob Ramsey, who saw his effort stopped by a good Hugo Lloris save. John McGinn had the next effort, which was again well saved, so at least heads hadn’t dropped.
In fact, it was almost all us for the rest of the half, and adding in Danny Ings’ gilt-edged chance, and an utterly howler of a header from Ollie Watkins, it should’ve been three or four for us by the break. But it wasn’t and more great chances were wasted.
The opening 45 minutes were summed up perfectly by two words – missed sitters.
So, rather predictably, five minutes into the second half, Spurs had a 2-0 lead. With just under 25 remaining, it was 3-0.
Four defeats on the spin, another second half without even a whimper, but at least we finally saw some changes with the game lost.
Oh, and Son Heung-Min helped himself to a hattrick with under 20 left on the clock to make it 4-0.
At least the sun is still out eh!
