Great news, James Milner obviously listened to the advice of the fans around by me on Sunday and has decided claret and blue suits him better because the Newcastle winger is apparently on his way to Villa Park for talks on a permanent move. The BBC is saying he will move to Villa in a £4million deal.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Villa and has now been given permission by Newcastle to talk over a permanent transfer.

A Villa statement said: ‘The club can confirm that James Milner is travelling down to the West Midlands to discuss a permanent move to Villa.’

  • Great news if he signs and i’m sure he will. Another young and talented player – one of our best last season and one who will improve over time and under Martin O’Neill’s guidance.

  • Will be supurb. he didnt look right playing for the barcodes, and didnt have his heart in it for them. come home jimmy

  • A solid if unspectacular signing, some of the players must have told MO’N what a prospect he is and how much they enjoyed playing with him last season. A good bit of business.

  • Signing milner for £4m doesn’t get my pulse raising, but he is a flexible player that could improve and obviously got on well with team and fans last year.

I hope we make one big shock signing today just to cap of a good deadline day. Defoe is looking

  • But we just bought a midfielder in Petrov. We need to fix the defence up a bit. But still, good player, he’ll be good for us indeed

  • I think you canned the last forum – doesn’t matter – If Milner signs – what does this mean for Hendrie? I’d welcome Milner back because imagine how he will improve under MON stewardship!

  • I think the defence is fine. We have a mix of youth and experience. There are eight defenders in the squad not including barry. No, competition for Angel would be good as we have 3 very similar strikers. I’d have liked to see Vince Grella from Parma (hold

  • Milner did not look happy playing for newcastle, no where near as fluid as he was when he played for us, and he was one of our few highlights last season, as for Defoe, a short quick striker, do we need one??? I think that very shortly he will not be fit

  • Good signing, no doubt will improve under MON. Any more rumours? Hope we get a striker, defender, holding midfielder before midnight. It must be a wind up Tevez and Mascharone have gone West Ham?

  • Anyone notice that AVFC.co.uk has actually confirmed a rumour? When was the last time they did that? I’m blown away by this development. Even more so than the news that Milner might actually sign for us. I’m just so used to the official site handing out t

  • for a player we bought for 3.5 million and who has’t started a prem leag game for us and then to sell him for 5 million is great buisness

  • Once again, geordie girls, your off the mark. Just like you were last Sunday. 5 mil? I suppose Luque was great business too. At least you figured out how to turn the caps lock off.

  • The only reason milner hasnt started a premier league game for newcastle is that they are the most mismanaged club in the division. Im sure they’ll be happy once theyve got bramble to extend his contract!!

  • True, but he played well for us last season and will be even better under O’Neill. I’d be well happy to see Milner back at Villa full time.

  • obviously a geordie who dosnt follow his team….milner started for the barcodes at the weekend even though he had his mind set on a move to a bigger club.4 days later, it looks like his dream has come true.

  • I was gonna say the price seems a bit high considering Barry nearly went for £5mill. I wouldnt go higher than £3mill for Milner.

  • THE MOST MISMANGAED CLUB IN THE DIVISION YA MEAN WHEN O LEARY WAS YA MANAGER LAST SEASON LOL U LOT R SERIOUSLY THE BIGGEST JOKE AND WILL BE 4 YEARS 2 COME

  • 5 mill for young english talent is a good buy, (remember carrick cost 18m)…milner will be worth at least 15m by his 24th birthday and so will gabby, davis, cahill

  • WE ALL KNOW WE WERE LAUGHING STOCK UNDER OLEARY…I DONT HEAR ANYONE LAUGHING NOW THOUGH, I THINK THE SOUND WE HEAR NOW IS PEOPLE EATING THEIR OWN WORDS
