James Milner says he is determined to cement a place back in the Newcastle team following his transfer collapse to Aston Villa this summer.

Following his performance against West Ham (2-0 to Newcastle) he said ‘It’s great to be back in the team. You want to be playing every week, and Newcastle is a great club. We have some great players and all I want to do is give 100 per cent and try as hard as I can. It’s down to me to perform and put in the performances, and if I do well the manager can’t pick anyone else. My aim is to keep playing well.’

Villa could still return for Milner during the January transfer window.

  • UTD – the voice of common sense. Who isn’t going to enjoy playing in front of a packed SJP.
The more rumour around, the more he’ll cost us.
