Jedinak Misses Final Australian Selection

Having been named in Ange Postecoglou’s provisional 30 man squad for their upcoming games in the September international break, Mile Jedinak has not been named in the final 23.

With the 33 year old’s long standing groin complaint seeing him miss out for us since April, and his only action being a ‘through the pain barrier’ outing for his country in their three two qualifying win over Saudi Arabia last June, the fact he didn’t play a part in our League Cup tie against Wigan Athletic has effectively ruled him out of international contention.

The good news on this is, whilst he’ll miss some competitive action, at least we can keep him working steady at Bodymoor Heath as he nears fitness again and then hopefully the issue will be behind him.

Jedinak will no doubt be cheering his country on though as they only need four points from their next two games to guarantee their place at the World Cup.

If they fail to get four points they will likely finish third and need a two legged play off against an Asian side, before a CONCACAF side to book their trip to Russia.
