Forgotten man Jlloyd Samuel has at last been able to return to training.

The left-back, who two seasons ago was an ever present in the team, has been out for two months with a thigh injury, is targeting a Christmas return.

I hope fans cut him a break, he is still young and was showing great promise not long back. Last season wasn’t great but no one seemed willing to take into account the fact he often played for the cause with niggling injuries because the options for O’Leary were so restricted. You don’t become a bad player overnight and Jlloyd could still have a very decent future for us if the boo boys laid off for five minutes.

Jlloyd said: ‘It’s great to be back with the rest of the lads, after spending so much time in the gym on my own. I’m not feeling any pain now and I would say I’m almost back to full fitness. It would be great to be back in the Premiership by Christmas but I will have to work hard to win my place back.’

  • I think left back is something that needs to be addressed in January as I dont think Bouma or Jlloyd are good enough and Barry is better further forward.

  • I disagree Deano. I think Jlloyd was looking like a great left back until the previous manager (can’t remember his name) destroyed his confidence. He then went on a downward spiral. It didn’t help when his own fans started giving him pelters (but abusing

  • Agree with Voice. Give JLloyd a chance. We have more need of players up front, down the flanks and in midfield. Possible right back too! To be honest only the centre of defense and left back look as though they may be totally covered.

  • Give Jlloyd ANOTHER chance? I’ve lost count of the amount of chances he’s had now? Will chance number 8 be his last? Or if he once again proves he is awful will he get another chance?

  • When he was top of his game he was selected for the England squad. So I would probably take the opinion of those in the game deano rather than yours, but that is just my opinion. The last manager destroyed Jlloyd along with several other players. I mean,

  • We have to have our knives into someone. If it isnt Liam then its Tommy, if not Tommy, then lets rip JPA or Milan Baros to shreds. JLloyd deserves to come back fit and strong, with the supporters encouraging his efforts, not demeaning and/or detracting, w

  • glensider I am with you 100%. We have a minority of fans who think that the way to get the best from your players is to hurl abuse at them every time they make a mistake. The fact that these muppets say they are entitled to because they pays their money i

  • Wayne Bridge is the answer to our left back position, if he went to Fulham last season he’ll move to us without a doubt, him and barry on the left would be quality.
I dont see how Bouma fits into to a 4-4-2 formation, hes not quick/fit/attacking enough t

  • Lot of work for JLloyd to do. I like the guy, but feel that he could be on the move this summer.
