James Nursery of The Mirror has an article today with the headlines: John Carew could be set for Aston Villa exit – exclusive

There aren’t any quotes or ‘sources’ but it is an interesting supposition that he again angered Villa officials after pulling out of the SCKA Moscow game due to his back injury but was fit to face Stoke on Sunday.

This might be 2+2=5 but after the other set back to his Villa career over the curfew breaking before another UEFA game, the patience of a manager like Martin O’Neill who was seemingly furious the first time around, might be being stretched now.

The article says that the Villa boss desperately needed the experience of Big John and had obviously wanted him to lead the line.

The same teams are again being linked to the 29-year-old Norwegian giant as were being linked in January, namely Galatasaray and Werder Bremen.

Interesting one, I guess transfer rumours etc are quiet at the moment! I must admit I think at times he is anonomous on the pitch and yet the goal he got v Stoke was just sublime. If only we got the unplayable and aggressive JC every game, we’d have one hell of a striker. I wouldn’t expect to see him go without replacements in first, but I have said before I would not be surprised if he wasn’t a Villa player this time next season.

Would still love to see him stay and be the player he could be though!

JC’s goal (please note this game will be overwritten with other highlights, we don’t have the rights to store them long! Also unfortunately UK only, again down to rights)
