Juan Pablo Angel has backed Milan Baros to bounce back from his slump on fitness and form.

The former Liverpool striker was injured in training before the World Cup and has looked a shadow of the player he was last season since his return to the Villa side. Baros was replaced just after half time by Didier Agathe on Saturday against Fulham but Angel says the Czech international will come good.

‘Milan is a quality player. I didn’t think this was a particular good day for the strikers. We have to really work hard but we didn’t have that many chances and it was one of those times. I am sure when he starts to score goals he will show how important he is for us and we need him at his best because he is a quality player as he has shown it before. Things will come right.’

Adding, ‘You have those times in your career but you have no doubt about Milan. He is a quality player and he will overcome this situation, no danger.’

I’d say there is a danger, a danger of them being replaced in the transfer window if they don’t start banging the goals in for Villa! I’d still love to see Baros turn on the style though, with a run of fitness and a bit of confidence, he could still be a great striker for us.
