Robbie Keane hasn’t ruled out a return to the club saying he has loved his time at B6 and he thanks everybody for making him feel at home.
Speaking to the Official Site ahead of his final game against Wigan, Keane said:
‘I’ve really enjoyed it. I have to say the club has been fantastic. Villa have looked after me really well and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I couldn’t have wished to come to a better club than Villa, I thank everyone.’
The question on everybodies lips, from the moment the loan was announced really, was the possibility of a permanent deal, and Keane says:
‘Villa are a tremendous club and, as I said before, the people have been great. You never forget that. At the end of the day I am a Galaxy player and looking forward to going back and playing for them. But you never know in the future, you can never rule anything out in football.’
This was always the problem with the loan deal. Keane has given us a boost in the games he’s been here, but what now, we are back to normal and we don’t have his spark and even he hasn’t managed to lift the underperformers so apart from Wolves really as the stand out what have we gained long term?
Now if it leads to a permanent deal for next summer that’ll have achieved something. But if it leads to another loan spell next season as Alex has already muted then please for the love of God spend the money more wisely on one of the many gems from the Championship that has a long term future with us so we have a long term gain from the deal, as opposed to an expensive short term plaster.
