Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that Jonathan Kodjia will undergo surgery on his injured ankle.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media ahead of this weekend’s game against Ipswich Town, Bruce confirmed that the news on Kodjia was ‘the worst possible’ as he now faces another long lay off.

‘Kodjia will probably have an operation later this week. It`s the worst possible news we could have. But it`s football. We have been dealt some cruel ones over the last few weeks. We have managed to cope.’

Obviously the January window now comes to the fore and Keinan Davis needs help.

‘Hopefully we will do that again until January. Then we will see if we can do something to try and help the team and squad. We won`t have millions with FFP but we signed Snodgrass, Onomah and Johnstone on loan. You don`t have to spend millions. That`s what we will try and find.’

As for a brief update on John Terry and Scott Hogan, he went on to say.

‘JT is plodding along – it`s just time for him. He`s now three weeks in. Scott had an abdominal blockage. He`s fine but he`s had an internal operation. We have to be patient. I would think he will be another three or four weeks.’
