Following our 2-2 draw with Wycombe earlier today, Paul Lambert has said it’s still about getting minutes on the pitch for the players and not the result that counts.
Speaking to the Official Site following the game, which unfortunately saw both Andi Weimann (back) and Jordan Bowery (hip) go off injured, the gaffer said:
‘We’ve still got a lot of work to do. We said before it’s always about getting more minutes under our belts. We have one or two knocks at the minute which isn’t helping and there are a lot of younger kids in the fray. But they never let themselves down and it’s about fitness.’
Lambert adds that whilst it’s disappointing to have plans disrupted by injuries the positive for him is seeing the younger lads making the step up from the U21’s and not overly looking out of place amongst the first team lads.
As for the injuries sustained in this game, Lambert said of Weimann and Bowery:
‘Andi and Jordan are both sore so we’ll see how they are ahead of Tuesday.’
