Paul Lambert has said that we’ll see a much better Villa over the coming weeks and next season, as long as we can get through this rocky spell.

Easy to be sarcastic and point out the present is a bit more important than a potential future, but on this I do agree but only if these lads get a lift in belief. I just maintain he could’ve made this season far easier, whilst still having an eye on how some of these young lads will grow together in the future.

Speaking to the Official Site Lambert repeated that we would take the positives from Everton and move on, because he believes we are a real threat up front, even if we remain sloppy at the back:

‘We will take a lot of heart. If we continue to play like that then hopefully we’ll start to get results. We always looked dangerous on the counter attack, we always looked a threat. The three of them are playing well at the moment, Gaby, Andi and Christian. If we keep that going then we’ll win more than not, that’s for sure. If we can get out of this period, we’ll kick on. Things will go our way if we play like that because hard work always pays dividends eventually.’

The key is getting out of this period though isn’t it. How many months will it take, and will it happen quick enough for fans to believe the core of our team will be better placed come the next campaign and be in a position to try and compete and push up the table, rather than simply focusing on survival?

Having faith it will come good evaporated during the festive spell, and losing a 2 goal cushion regardless of Everton’s form, does not help that faith return.
