Lambert On Lescott

Well, maybe there is something in this afterall and the earlier panic about Paul Lambert not even being interested by experienced players can be somewhat put to bed – even though he’s never actually said he wasn’t.

Speaking to the press ahead of the Ipswich encounter, the obvious question was asked about Man City’s Joleon Lescott, and the gaffer said.

‘He’s a top, top player. He’s not getting a game at Manchester City at the minute. As I’ve said before, I will sit with the rest of the staff and see what I can do. But I don’t think you can ever dismiss it any level whenever you are talking about a top player.’

Everything has already been said about Lescott that needs to be said, and most fans seemed bouyed by the fact Lambert will equally look at players of his calibre, whilst progressing with the youth, because his experience, if his desire and heart match what Lambert is looking for, would be ideal to help bring our youngsters on and provide them with that on pitch direction that they need to continue growing.

Lambert clearly does have his plans for this window as he’s hinted at before:

‘There are names we’re trying to do. I think everyone has said it’s a really tough window in January. We won’t just get people in for the sake of getting them in, there is ridiculous money and that sort of thing, that’s not something I’ll do but there’s one or two that we will try to.’

Maybe the next few weeks will be interesting?
