Villa boss Paul Lambert has spoken about his new place of work. Bodymoor Heath.

He calls it ‘phenomenal` on the Official Site and I`m sure most who have done the tours around the place will know exactly what he means.

Bodymoor went from the state of the arc to state of art when it was refurbished and now even boasts a full size replica of Villa Park pitch.

If you do ever get the chance to go on a tour there, I`d recommend it. Bodymoor is up there with the very best training facilities in the world. This is where my beef with players come, whether they like certain managers or not, how can they not appreciate where they are working and how can they not give 100% on the pitch?

They`ve got off nearly scott free over the last two seasons due to the unpopular managers, next season they`ll have no such excuse and those that aren`t moved on, will hopefully take full advantage of what they have here!

Lambert says:

He said: ‘It’s a fantastic facility. There are not many better than this.”

He came and looked when MON was manager and was impressed but as he says, he is now in the middle of it all and this is his place of work!

And obviously most of us will concur with this:

‘But you can have the best training ground in the world but if you’re not performing on a Saturday it wouldn’t matter. My job is to try and get the team winning. It’s a great place to train and work at, it’s a terrific facility. But you have to have the tools to match it.”

Also quoted in The Express & Star he says he wants hungry players and hopes the players given the chance will ‘step up to the plate’… well, if they are hungry enough they are bound to aren`t they?!?!?

I`m sorry!

“I think if someone is good enough then they have earned it. All you can ask is people give you their best. I am pretty sure that the lads already here will. Whether a player is making little money or a lot of money I still expect effort and desire to win games. That should never deflect from winning games. The principle to win games doesn`t change regardless of how much people earn.”

He added on the Official site that if the players are set up right, they can bounce off the fans and the club will ‘take off`.

He certainly seems very keen to get the fans fully onboard. Nice to know. Managers and players want to be liked, good for the manager to know that the fans also like to be liked and appreciated!

want players to enjoy their football and have a freedom to play the game. I also need the fans to help us and if we can have that, we’ll have a right good chance.’

Amen!
