Paul Lambert has said he remains confident about the future of the club and what he’s trying to achieve, as he continues to look at the bigger picture.

Speaking to the Official Site Lambert said he believed the fans were still looking at the big picture like him, and whilst he can understand the tension created by the last two results, he looks at more like three points gained from fixtures against Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs.

Yes there’s a certain sense in that and prior to the games most would’ve been happy with a point in each to be fair, but again it’s not so much the losses that have got people’s back up, it was the scorelines and the lack of a performance that has really worried people.

‘I can understand the frustrations, but I can see the bigger picture. I know what we want to achieve. I know we’re not a million miles away from midtable if you hit a little run. You have to put those barriers up, you take criticism on the chin, it makes you stronger. There’s no hiding from it. There are two ways of looking at it. You pick yourself up or you sink. We’re certainly not going to go sinking. We’re not sitting bottom, we’re not in the bottom three and we’re only a few points from midtable! We want to make a success of this place. A more experienced team than we have right now has flirted with relegation the last few years, so it just shows you, you have to earn the right.’

Yup a more experienced team last season were at this stage 5 points clear of our current tally, and given the changes in the squad that isn’t actually too bad when you consider this team should continue to improve as they gel and really click, but we don’t have to hit the extremes of an experienced but unmotivated squad, and then lurch to an inexperienced but very hungry squad.

Get the balance right, to help the lads when they are off form or it’s one of those days and they will develop far better in the short term.

Nobody really knows what deals didn’t come off in the summer, and they could well have been deals that saw that additional touch of experience come in. If they were Lambert knows exactly where to go in January, pull them off and give us the best shot possible at a more comfortable end to the season.

Nothing wrong with continuing to bring kids in that he thinks will grow with us, just get that experience as well.
