Paul Lambert has said he has total trust in his new backroom additions Scott Marshall, Michael Watts and Chris Lorkin and he expects everyone will ‘bounce off each other’ which is a novel way of getting fit in pre season.

Speaking to the Official Site following the second day’s training with our new first team coach and fitness coaches now in place, Lambert said of the trio:

‘I worked with Michael and Chris at Norwich and I know exactly what we are getting – two good guys who put the work in. I trust them to do it. The two of them will bounce off each other with the rest of the staff. I know Scotty from Wycombe. He has a really good way about him, he’s a good coach and he will enhance the first team.’

One thing that eagle eyed fans didn’t miss was the appointment of Marshall, a former Arsenal defender who no doubt would’ve gained more match time had it not been for the likes of Tony Adams and Martin Keown in the Arsenal side at the point.

With defence being, erm, a concern last season, having a former centre half on the training pitch will do no harm whatsoever when it comes to helping the likes of Clarkie and Baker develop further.
