In short Lambert agrees we were ‘second best’ on the day and apparently a display that lethargic from us was ‘unlike us’ and that’s open to debate.
‘We made a great start, for 20 minutes we looked really good and scored a really good goal. The goals we lost were poor. The two lads coming off never helped us, but I still thought we were second best. Stoke deserved to beat us.’

Now we’re all used to an amount of repetition usually involving the words we were fantastic and we will go again and I can’t fault them, but Lambert is now repeating himself every other sentence following Stoke.
And I’m sure everyone will pick fault with the implication that’s not how we normally play, because it is. Just in some games we get away with it.
Can be sugar-coated as much as you want, but performances like that are our staple. That are not unlike us at all, they are not rare, once in a blue moon or infrequent.
Norwich, Chelsea…being better in some games or having a mad 16 minutes is hardly an excuse, and even Lambert has talked previously about results glossing performances and they do…but let’s not make out this was out of character or my name’s Doris.
Just meh.
At least Lambert’s sorted out the wages eh…oh, no, they increased didn’t they. DOH.
