Late Sucker Punch Denies Villa A Share Of The Points – Stats

Aston Villa welcomed high flying Leeds United to Villa Park earlier today for the festive Championship clash before all eyes focus in on Christmas, before once again returning to football and Boxing Day matches.

It was a lively start as Tammy Abraham gave us the advantage five minutes into the first half, before Conor Hourihane doubled our lead in the 17th minute. A comfortable lead at the halftime break but the visitors did hit back hard in the final 45 minutes.

Ten minutes after the restart they had made it a one-goal game and just after the hour mark they had drawn level. Sadly for us, as the game entered stoppage time they made it 3-2 and took all the points on offer.

A double disappointment for us will be in only testing their goalkeeper on two occasions as they did dominate the statistics in the game, but we know we are a work in progress still and this game just proves it really.
