Not exactly a bumper few days for rumours but lets look at what we have been linked to.

Warning, these links are not good for your health, we’ll not end up with any of these players and we really should be outside getting some fresh air… end of warning!

According to a gossip site Martin O’Neill has his eyes on Bayern Munich defender Philippe Lahm.

Reports are linking Villa defender Liam Ridgewell with an exit, again. This time, after rumours he might be moving to Small Heath died down, he is apparently a target for newly promoted Derby County, a club also linked with former Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie who is a free agent this summer. One sum mentioned for the England Under 21 defender was around £2million. Hope this isn’t true, I think we should be building not selling, although I guess if we did bring in another quality defender, places would start to get a bit tight and the Villa youth academy graduate will probably be more interested in regular first team football at this stage of his career rather than bolstering our numbers.

Apparently Villa and Everton are battling it out for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Michael Kightly. The reports don’t mention what form of battle will take place but my bet is on jousting. The fee is expected to be in the region of £3million for the 21 year old superkid. In an interview revealing how desperate he is to leave the Wolves he said: ‘There has been some speculation about me and other clubs, but I have always said if I was offered a new, longer contract at Wolves I would be more than happy to sign it,’ Hmmm, can sure see where the link came from!

The Mail On Sunday say Villa are ‘chasing’ Charlton Athletic defender Luke Young. I’d settle for the more orthodox route and ring his agent, that said, I’m lazy. Apparently Villa are keen on bringing the England international defender to Villa Park (not sure where else we’d be keen to take him to be honest). West Ham are also being linked.

Baggies player link 352. The rumour that Villa want WBA winger Jason Koumas has re-surfaced. According to reports today Villa, Reading, Blackburn Rovers and Everton (thought they were broke?) all want the playmaker after West Broms failure to win promotion to the Premiership. Koumas, not being too clever here in all honesty, has said Everton would be his preferred option. Nice one, so if they don’t buy you fans of the club you do end up at will now know you weren’t keen on joining their club! The Welshman said baaaaa. No, stop it, that is racial stereotyping. He actually said: ‘Any player will say they should be in the Premiership, and I am no different. I feel I can play in the Premier League, no problem. I hope I am in the Premiership next season, but if it doesn’t happen I will just keep playing to the best of my ability with West Brom.’
