A new day, and only one new managerial link really.
Nigel Pearson raises his head again and we continue to get news that Remi Garde is looking unlikely because he can’t bring his favoured backroom staff (Gerald Baticle, Bruno Genesio and Robert Duverne)from Lyon as they won’t release them from their current contracts.
Guy Poyet links are quietening down as he’s now being linked with a move to AEK Athens instead.
The new link however is St Etienne boss Christophe Galtier, who from memory has been linked with us on at least two occasions previously.
Either that or I’ve been dreaming about him for some reason and that just worries me.
Apparently some bookmakers have him installed as second favourite now to replace Tim Sherwood with wobbles over Remi Garde and his speculated problems with backroom boys.
The 49 year old has experienced English football previously as he was assistant to Alain Perrin during a brief spell at Portsmouth back in 2005.
Galtier has a win ratio of 42% over 250 games in spells with Marseille, Lille and Toulouse mainly, although he has taken in other clubs.
Bizarelly that stat puts him below Garde’s win % of 51.28 (not bizarre) but Tim Sherwood’s 42.9 and I can’t work out where 42% of that came from – Spurs maybe?
