With Villa in with a fantastic chance of European football next season, Laursen has praised the boss further and pointed out that O’Neill’s winning attitude has been rubbing off on the players.

Speaking on the official site the Dane has pointed out that the team do have the mental strength to see the season through and that it’s all down to MON.

‘He’s definitely a winner. I think he’s got problems with himself when we’re losing and he doesn’t like that.

‘He wants to do well and he’s got big dreams for this club and we feel that.

‘That’s why we’re responding so well when we go a goal behind, that we come again and are able to come back and get a point or three points because our leader is a good example to follow.

‘I can only say that we have a very good team that can challenge for a UEFA Cup place. We’re playing some good attacking football.

‘We have some players going forward I always feel can score, so if we manage to stay solid at the back, I think we have a fair chance to play well and to get some good results. But it’s important to take it one game at a time.’

With O’Neill forcing them to believe in themselves, even when performances aren’t right and things are going wrong – you can see why we are so high in the league this season.

We’ve all commented in the past about teams coming out looking like they have lost, or trying to be too pretty and not getting the result. But we do seem to have the mix now, that said there is plenty of work still left to do and 12 games is more than enough to completely blow all we have achieved.
