Aston Villa fans finally got to see the best of on loan Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe this season as he thrived under head coach Dean Smith in the heart of defence until injury once again got in the way of his progress.
2018/19 was certainly a good year for him ultimately as we won promotion back to the Premier League via the Wembley Play-Off route but United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made it pretty clear that he wanted Axel back this year, if only to take a much closer look at him.
That, of course, doesn’t necessarily rule out a deal being done next year as even though it appears Ole is trying to take the side in a different direction, the pressure will still be on to sign a name, so after he’s taken a look at Tuanzebe, later in the window was always an option.
The 21-year-old may have in fact dropped his own hint about his future in a recent exchange with skipper Jack Grealish and it set some tongues wagging.

Whilst plenty debated whether it was a typo and he meant ‘led us to the Prem’, others typically thought he was trying to tempt Jack to Old Trafford.
I guess we’ll soon find out but ‘lead us in the Prem’ does seem to be a little in your face.
