Well this one came out of the blue! Stoke City have beaten off a host of other clubs and taken Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie on loan.
Crystal Palace and QPR were strongly linked this week and many thought Hendrie would re-join former Villa manager John Gregory at the hoops.
Wolves, West Brom and Southampton were all linked last season as Hendrie looks for regular football.
The 29-year-old will move to The Britannia Stadium on a two-month loan can could make his debut against Preston this weekend.
In other news Brighton are running the rule over 19-year-old Villa striker Sam Williams after taking him on a month’s loan.
Their caretaker manager Dean Wilkins said ‘Sam’s not the experienced striker that we’re after, but I think he’ll be good for us. We’ll take him for the month initially, and then see how it goes from there.’

It will do Hendrie the world of good, wonder how many scuffles he will have?
Good luck Lee , I hope the match practice gives you what you need to break into the villa squad when you get back ! (if you come back)
I have never been keen on Hendrie and to be honest I hope he doesnt come back.
I hope to god we’re not paying his wages during the loan.
To be honest I think Hendrie is now playing at is level and is unlikely to return, given that we are likely to invest in January.
Hope he doesn’t come back. He’s got the talent but at 29 he’s still trying to prove himself. I think his 6 games a season will go down better in the championship.
he’ll be an amazing championship player, and if the fans warm to him, he’ll stay at stoke. Good luck lee, thanks for some great goals and watch out for lamp posts !!
Will be interesting to see how he does, hope he gets stuck in, he could have done so much more at Villa over the years.
Stoke can keep him.
Its closer to home for him, so as loan deals go its the perfect move. He’ll no doubt do a very good job there, and maybe at the end of the loan deal all parties will be keen to wrap up a permanent transfer.
Hows he getting to Stoke??? is his mum taking him??? he still only looks 13!
I hope the move is made permanent. Average players such as Hendrie have held us back for far too long.
Up to a point I agree Deano. I think his VP days are definitely numbered, its time for him to move on to pastures new.
