Colchester midfielder Kem Izzet (is Izzet his surname or just the way he finishes every sentence like half the kids today?) has had a go at Stoke’s on loan Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie after their 3-0 win last weekend.

Izzet says that lil Lee goaded him at half time asking if he would like to wash his Ferrari.

He said: ‘What can you do? If he’s got a Ferrari, he’s got a Ferrari. I just said, ‘Give me a sponge and I’ll wash it if you like’. I hope it’s a red one he’s got, otherwise I won’t be happy. It was a bit patronising the way he tapped me, so I did the same back. I may have tugged his hair a bit too, but if you give it out you have to take it. If he wants to talk about his money he’s more than welcome. We do our talking on the pitch and we beat them 3-0 so that sticks it up him a little bit.’

Adding: ‘Sometimes Lee doesn’t help himself. He reacts to things, whereas if he was just to concentrate on his game he’s a very good player. He sometimes gets caught up in the moment, and that’s maybe why he is where he is just now.’

He’ll never change now though will he? He’s often said he’ll grow up, but seems doubtful. Wonder if he got his car washed in the end and how much he was paying!

I asked Mr Vital Stoke about how Hendrie was doing and he said: ‘Lee has been a bit quiet recently, but still playing ok – maybe trying to stay under the radar so that O’Neill doesn’t sell him in January! Went to see them play away at Coventry the other week and the Cov fans were giving him and Berger plenty of stick.’

Hmmm, starts good then go quiet, sound familiar?
