It seems it was a quiet day at the Sun over the weekend as they have rehashed speculation linking Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan with a loan move to Sheffield United again.
The 26-year-old striker is out injured at the moment so even with the loan window coming to a close I’m not too sure we should be putting stock in rumours at this stage as unless I’ve missed something, there isn’t actually a time frame on a potential return yet – we do seem to have become rather secretive on those fronts of late.
In any event:
Sheffield United are willing to make Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan their best-paid player to take him on loan. [Sun] #avfc

Chasing the news down it appears the only update of sorts is United are willing to pay his wage in full and plenty are split on whether this would be a good deal for us.
Hogan hasn’t hit the ground running with us, but equally, we’ve never played to his strengths and don’t look like we will now either, despite Jack Grealish and John McGinn more than capable of giving him the service he needs – but Bruce prefers Jonathan Kodjia up front, so is it worth keeping him around?
Is it worth holding onto him anyway ?

He can be deadly at this level so yes.

We need him

He needs to get fit, stay fit and play @AVFCOfficial

There’s a good player there but for two problems, can’t play the one up top system and injury prone

He's not even fit?

Would be a bad decision by villa!

Strengthen a potential rival, no thanks!

Ridiculous would be crazy

Torn on this. Rapid pace, natural poacher and can see McGinn helping him massively. However, injury prone to an extreme, no real aerial threat and low on confidence thanks to Bruceasaur. Used correctly he's better than Kodjia imo but will we ever see that under Bruce? #avfc

Letting Hogan go would be such a 'Steve Bruce' thing for Steve Bruce to do #AVFC

The Sun , say no more , would never let him go , and defo not to a team in our league ,get him fit and playing , we’ve wasted too much wages on strikers already.

It would also be fair to say this is the kind of thing we’ve done previously and you just know if he arrives at Bramall Lane with the way they tried to attack last season, he’d absolutely fly for them in my humble.
Some were more than happy to hold the polar opinion though and they just want him off our books anyway we can, the worry is would we be getting him off the books to bring in the likes of Sheyi Ojo as I fail to see how that would be an improvement on any level.
