Eric Lichaj has said the team were bitterly disappointed not to take something from the Chelsea game for Stan, but they’ll roll their socks up and go again next time round.
Speaking to the Official Site after the 4-2 loss, it’s was a mixed day for Lichaj following his start and his goal:
‘We went down to 2-0 then brought it back and we’re not feeling really good now. We’re not happy about it but we’ve got to move on. Once we’d scored it felt like we were going to get another, then everyone felt like we could have won the game. But they came back and scored what was a cheap goal. It wasn’t a good result in the end.’
The disappointment mainly came from the squad wanting to honour Stan by getting a result:
‘He came into the dressing room before the game, sometimes you get a bit of extra energy in you to play for someone and everybody played for Stan, but we couldn’t get the result that we wanted.’
If they can continue to show the same fighting spirit and we can make ourselves a bit of luck, we can still end the season on a high – even if that’s not that difficult to achieve given the season we’ve had.
