Well that was a dull and dour affair, total stalemate, no entertainment and yet more boring football.

That is what I have expected to be saying in my match report….! Luckily that wasn’t the case at all.

Some might point to the fact Bolton were very poor BUT you can only play who is in front of you and lets face it, those are the sort of games our boys often don’t raise their game for and quite often manage to mess up.

Not today though, we totally battered them from start to finish, they didn’t stand a chance with every one of the Villa boys being played in the right position and all totally up for it. What a difference that makes.

From the off you could see Villa were up for it, maybe stung by the midweek loss when really we (apparently) could have won from the chances just in the first half and if not for bad ref decisions… etc etc, that was another day, today Villa were all singing from the same hymn sheet (the hymn was hallelujah by the way) and there was only ever one winner.

The nice thing was some of the players who I think have been pedestrians this year so far… notably Ashley Young and John Carew… appear to have played themselves into a bit of form. Ash isn’t perhaps at his very best yet and that is a promising sign as even not at his best he set up and scored a goal. Can’t really grumble at that can you? James Milner was tireless, Nigel Hokey-Cokey looked fairly commanding in the middle and even Steve Sidwell who has put in some average performances was winning the 50/50 balls and making good use of them. It just all ‘clicked’. Bit different to the bore draw v Everton last Saturday, now the lads have set the bar, lets go and rip Burnley apart then show Spurs a thing or two at the end of the month. They can do it, they have done it, now they just need that magic ingredient, consistency!

Overjoyed to come out of Villa Park having spanked a team good and proper, totally deserved and no arguments, especially as Mark Clattenburg was doing his utmost to mess it up, that Villa deserved each of their goals and then some. We really could have got a cricket score today and it would have been deserved. The only moan is the Bolton goal, I’ve not seen the replay (so might be wrong – difficult to believe what with me being so excellent and all that!) but I swear they handled the ball in the box to bring it down to shoot? It was also close to offside surely? THEN you have that f*****g useless linesman who gave them a free kick when Gabby Agbonlahor (right ratman?) was definitely fouled. MON was going mad, JC at the end of the half was going mad, but luckily that decision, despite leading straight to their goal, didn’t ultimately matter, phew…!

As for the man of the match, I’d hand it to James Milner, he was tireless.

Ratings? Might as well give them all 10 out of 10 and send everyone off happy (and I can go and have my tea!)

(Sorry for the rushed report, I wasn’t scheduled to do one today but my deputy can’t make it and I couldn’t stand the moaners coming on and telling us that we didn’t do one because we’d won so well!!!!!!!!)
