The Times are reporting today that Villa might go in for naughty boy David Bentley despite his latest indiscretions with a drink-driving accident.

When will these fools (and I don’t just mean footballers) learn? Drink driving costs lives, get drunk, get a taxi you simple minded cretin!

The reports say MON will monitor the situation – what is there to monitor, you either want the player or you don’t?! They also say Appy Arry is ‘keen to wash his hands of a player considered damaged goods at White Hart Lane.’

The Times also repeat the link to Jermaine Jenas claiming our interest for both him and Bentley cooled when Villa were told Spurs price.

They also list his other incidents including a gambling problem whilst at Arsenal, being banned for speeding at 102mph. Then again for 120mph. Pulling out of the Engalnd U21 game due to ‘fatigue’ and his latest was the drink driving crash.

Sounds a sensible lad!

The Sun have Appy Arry claiming Bentley could still have a future at Spurs. ‘There will be internal action. I am very anti-drinking to start with and very anti-drinking and driving. There is no place for that. David is very lucky that no one was injured – he has got off quite lightly. He is really low about what he has done. I don’t care what walk of life it is in, you cannot drink and drive. You just need to jump in a taxi.’

Adding, ‘David Bentley is a smashing lad. He knows that what happened will cost him. He will pay for it. David is still here and is available for selection against Liverpool. He has trained well but is obviously low.’

The Sun are obviously on the wind up today, they say that Liverpool have made a ‘cheeky’ enquiry about Aston Villa and England midfielder James Milner Hogwash. I can’t see Liverpool would have bothered, they’d know we won’t sell him.

Meanwhile Hull are the latest to be linked to 34-year-old former Arsenal, Spurs and Pompey defender Sol Campbell. Cool, keep him away from Villa!
