Martin O’Neill believes the fact that many fans were disappointed by our draw against defensive Liverpool shows how far the club have come and the levels of optimism that now surround the club.

Speaking on the official site, O’Neill stated that he was looking forward to the rest of the season and he loved the ‘mood’ change that has occurred over the past few years.

‘I am looking forward to the rest of the season with great optimism.

‘There’s been a change of mood and expectation at this football club and that’s great.

‘I liked the fact against Liverpool that there was a tinge of disappointment that we didn’t beat them.

‘That was a great thing – that’s where we are.

‘As James Milner said after he signed, there have been great strides since he was last here.

‘Liverpool, even by their own admission, were hanging on in the last 15 minutes of the game. That’s certainly a positive sign.

‘While you can’t make any big statements after three games, things are certainly upbeat.’

Now to beat the rest of them up.
