Matthew Lowton has said he believes Villa have the quality to turn our current predicament around if given time, because he doesn’t believe we are playing that badly.

Speaking to the Official Site Lowton talked about his frustration with the Villa result because of how close a game he felt it was, and one moment of sloppy defending has again cost us at least a point:

‘We have to keep our belief, we aren’t playing badly. We have gone to these places and played very well. It took a fantastic goal at Newcastle to peg us back, we should have gone ahead against Tottenham and we were fantastic up until 84 minutes against Fulham.’

To be fair most fans would disagree with the assessment of us being ‘fantastic’ until Fulham scored and they did look the more likely to score in the game, so maybe we should go for ‘good for a point’ as more reflecting the performance until 84 minutes?

‘It’s tough to take because the performances are there, we are just not getting the results. It’s difficult accepting conceding a goal from a corner, it won’t be the best corner he’s ever taken by a long way, it was sloppy from us – we switched off. We have to start turning it around and get more clean sheets.’

Lowton finishes by talking about our Swansea performance and his belief that we can replicate that for the Norwich visit this weekend.

Well to be fair we are up and down at the moment, so we are due an up again aren’t we!
