Luke Moore could be close to a return ahead of schedule following shoulder surgery last year.

The striker aggravated his shoulder problem in the match against Chelsea last September. The 20-year-old said: ‘My shoulder feels good and I’m ahead of schedule. Hopefully I’ll be back earlier than people thought. I haven’t got a date but I am looking at some time this month. ‘

‘It’s been frustrating not to be playing. It was depressing when I got injured and realised I would be out for a long time. But that’s the way football is sometimes and you have to accept that things sometimes go wrong. But I’m doing running and a lot of hard work in the gym to get things right. I’m getting there. I’m now more interested in what lies ahead. The sooner I can play again, the better.’

Moore, who had the problem with his shoulder for three years, was able to use the Cleveland Browns medical staff thanks to intervention by Randy Lerner, Moore explained: ‘My shoulder was just hanging out before. Even when I was just walking around, it wasn’t properly in the socket. The specialist pinned my shoulder and tightened up all the ligaments. The people at Cleveland looked after me really well. I’m confident with the work they have done that I will be stronger than ever when I come back.’

  • Luke always gets himself into scoring positions, won us a few penalties. Need someone to put pressure on Baros.

  • It will be good to see him back and challenging for a first team starting spot. Interesting to see what role we will use him in. No doubt it will depend somewhat on the new faces that arrive at the club this month.

  • Sounds like he has been working hard, so shouldn’t take him long to regain full match fitness and kick start the team, I bet he has been chomping at the bit. sooner the better
