The reserves are putting out a strong team with plenty of experience first teamers tonight as Villa take on Reading AT VILLA PARK (7pm kick off).

VILLA: Taylor, O’Halloran, Samuel, Laursen, Ridgewell, Hogg, Herd, Gardner, Angel, Moore, Stieber. Subs: Lund, Bevan, Earls, Clark, Bannan.

Hopefully Luke Moore will take a further step in his recovery from the shoulder injury and edge closer to the first team, he is certainly banging them in for the reserves so can’t be far off.

  • 6 in 6, 7 in 7… I’m predicting that ratio to continue. Surely it’s only a matter of time until he’s lining up alongside Carew?

  • young wasn’t dropped evertonmike, he picked up an injury, he was hobbling for a good 10 mins.

  • O’Halloran added a third for Villa. VILLA: Taylor, O’Halloran, Samuel (booked 30), Laursen, Lund, Hogg, Herd, Gardner, Angel, Moore, Stieber. Subs: Bevan, Earls (for Angel 88), Clark (for Moore 88), Bannan (for Stieber 87).

  • Moore has to be knocking on the door of the first team. His performances in the stiffs have been 10/10.

  • Cant understand why he’s (Moore) being overlooked. It suggests that in all probability he’s on his way this summer, but surely with us crying out for a strike partner to feed off JC, Luke deserves an opportunity to prove that he can still do the business for us. Our lack of goals means we should be exploring every avenue.

  • Moore was really bad last night. I was there and he didnt look fit at all. He was half a yard behind everyone else, and seemed to need far too much time on the ball. Im beginning to see why he hasnt been picked yet. There were a couple of positives, however. One was Angel, seemed back to his old self, just a reluctance to shoot. Another was Craig Gardner, pure quality and strength, he should be given a chance to replace McCann. Finally, Laursen got through a full 90mins and looked fit as a fiddle. He even made a barnstorming run from is own penalty box late in the second half and nearly scored!

  • Ahh well – so I’m a worse pundit then Lawro. Good to see the reserves beat a semi-strong Reading side comprehensively…
