Luke Moore has dismissed links to West Bromwich Albion with one easy sentence, the 21-year-old striker and product of the youth academy said ‘I’m a Villa boy’. Say no more!

I must admit I was worried when I saw the paper reports linking him to a £3million move to the Baggies as I think he could blossom into a great striker for us but with Villa rumoured to be interested in their centre back Davies I feared a player swap + cash would be negotiated.

Moore told the official site:

‘If the boss says he wants me to stay then that’s good enough for me.’

Adding, ‘I’m a Villa boy now, I’ve been here since I was eight years old, so I don’t need to say where I want to be really. There have been a few clubs I’ve been linked with but that’s out of my hands. All I know is that the manager’s trying to sort out a new contract which for me means I’m in his future plans.’

‘Like most young players here, we’ve been getting some confidence from what the manager’s been saying. I’ve got a year left, but it’s not a problem at the moment. I’m relaxed about it.’

O’Neill is said to be wanting to tie Moore, Olof Mellberg and Thomas Sorensen to longer deals as they all have just one year left on their contracts. That said, recent rumours on the forum are suggesting Sorensen has landed himself in hot water after criticising O’Neill for bringing in Scott Carson and that he might be allowed to leave. As I say, that is just a forum rumour at the moment although it has been reported that the Denmark international will be fined for his comments.
