Following the win against Walsall last night, Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill revealed Luke Young was mulling over a contract offer at another club, widely believed to be Liverpool.

In what was quite possibly the most baffling story in the villa season, clumsy Carlos Cuellar found himself as first choice right back ahead of one of the most consistant full backs in the history of the Premiership.

Almost every fan was screaming out for Luke Young to be reinstalled as right back last season, but O’Neill would not budge.

He did however decide to give Luke Young one chance though. That being at Stamford Bridge against league leaders Chelsea………… The conspiracy theorists loved it, as Villa were hammered 7-1 and it provided O’Neill with the evidence, if needed that Cuellar is the better full back.

I for one wish Luke Young all the best, the way he has been treated has been appalling, granted he has been on a high wage but unlike some at the club (and also footballers in general) he just seems to want to play football and he is by far the best full back at the club nevermind right back. Its going to be a big loss for us in a way but the fact is that he like a few others finds himself on Martin O’Neill’s black list, so why should he stay?

Good luck Luke, you will be missed.
