Aston Villa Under 23 skipper Jordan Lyden has been previewing our clash with Leicester City in the Premier League Cup and our league Play-Off Semi-Final has now been set for those that missed it.

With Aston Villa heading to the King Power Stadium this Friday for the Premier League Cup semi-final clash, Jordan Lyden met with the Official Site today to give his thoughts ahead of the tie.

The message, as you’d expect, is pretty simple – “Our eyes are on the prize.”

And they certainly should be as it could be a very fine season for Kevin MacDonald’s young charges with Cup silverware on offer as well as Division 2 promotion up for grabs following our second-placed finish in the table.

The one-legged affair on Friday evening kicks off at 7pm and should we win, our Final opposition will be either Swansea City or Sheffield United.

“It’s a game to look forward to – playing against a very good Leicester side at their main stadium. It’s one to relish for all the boys. We know what they’re about and we’ve been working on things this week. We’re looking to go there and get the result. It’s a massive game. We have got our eyes on the prize and we’re going for the win. We have a great group of players – the likes of Callum O’Hare, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, Jake Doyle-Hayes, Corey Taylor. They have all had a taste of first-team football.”

As for our league campaign, although our eight-game winning streak across all competitions really put the pressure on title winners Blackburn Rovers, we couldn’t quite chase them down following back to back defeats against Newcastle United and Norwich City. Finishing second in the table does, however, give us Villa Park advantage in the Play-Off affair against Reading (they finished fifth in the table).

The game is set for Tuesday, May 1 and it will kick off at 7pm.

Tickets are available at the gate but this clash will also be streamed live on the clubs’ official YouTube channel.

A busy week for the youngsters, let’s hope it’s a successful one.
