Manager Plans Mings Discussion At The End Of The Season – “We Will See”

|

Bournemouth centre-half Tyrone Mings has been a revelation in the Aston Villa backline in the second half of the 2018/19 campaign and with plenty of strong performances from the 26-year-old he’s already quickly established himself as a fan favourite and he is our defacto vice skipper already.

The problem we have is his performances have certainly put him on the radar of other clubs, and we do only have a ‘matching clause’ promise in his loan deal as opposed to a straight buy clause.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe sat down with the Bournemouth Echo this week and the topic of Mings and his future came up, and Howe admitted he’d been in regular contact with the defensive colossus and they did have plans to sit down and meet to discuss his future when the end of the season truly rolls around.

“I will sit down with Tyrone at the end of the season and we will discuss the next step. I have been in regular contact with him throughout his loan period. The most important thing now is he concentrates on Aston Villa and tries to help them get promotion and then we will see. That was the thing we all wanted, it is what Tyrone wanted and needed to do – play a run of games – and he has done that. He has performed very well. He has been a big part of the Villa team that have been on such a great run, so I am delighted for Tyrone that the loan has been so successful.”

Those fans who read that as more of a final goodbye type of meeting will be hoping that proves to be true, as Mings must surely be aware of how he’s wanted at B6 and the very fact Bournemouth were open to a matching bid clause does speak to his long term future at Dean Court.
