Mark Delaney is still fighting to return back to fitness. He visits the world renowned American surgeon Dr Richard Steadman mid April to have his knee injury checked before being given the go-ahead to start jogging.

The luckless Welsh international defender said:

‘I’ve got my next assessment in the United States on April 16 when I hope to get the all-clear to start jogging. That’s the next goal for me. That’s when I will see Dr Richard Steadman and will find out how I have progressed. So far I’ve followed everything I’ve been asked to do, from 10 minutes on the bike in the morning and afternoon, to swimming and doing exercises in the pool.’

‘I haven’t suffered any reaction from my knee, and everything feels fine. But even if I feel really good, I have been told not to rush things at any cost. I must take things easy.’

Delaney is out of contract in the summer, so the timing of this injury could not have been worse as he has been unable to play any part in this season at Villa.
