Martin O’Neill has the teams form is a ‘pleasant surprise’ as Villa went seven unbeaten yesterday in a 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic.

‘The team has been a pleasant surprise. We are going get beaten. We have an easy game next weekend against Chelsea! But we won’t fail through lack of attitude or determination.’

Adding, ‘We have won this game, the fans are pleased and we have come through six tests (seven with cup). I am pleased with the way the team is going but we are exceeding expectations. Did I expect to be fourth in the table? Absolutely not. We will find our level. We have got Chelsea next and after the international break we have some really tough games coming up, but I am pleased with the attitude of the team.’

Vital Villa asked on behalf of Saurat who would get the first goal. Amazingly 43% got it right, although as I was at the match, I do suspect some were voting once he had scored!!!

35% predicted Juan Pablo Angel, 7% Stiliyan Petrov and the same for Luke Moore.

That left just 5% saying Bent and 3% saying Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
