Martin O’Neill says the team now HAVE to start winning, starting with our home tie against Watford next weekend.

He said after the 3-1 loss to Manchester United, the twelfth game without a win :

‘We’ve got a 15-game season ahead of us now and we need to get off to a winning start next weekend.’

Adding ‘It’s a long time since we won a game and we’ve got to start putting that right. We’ve got a 15-game season ahead of us, it starts next Saturday, and we’ve got to be ready for it. We were two behind before we really got going today and then they got another before half-time. Let’s face it, they deserved to beat us, because they were miles better than us. The goals conceded weren’t great, but when we talk about these learning curves, we’ve got to learn and we’ve got to learn quickly. We’ve got a battle on our hands and I think we acknowledge that.’

‘Our game-plan was gone within about 15 minutes and I just thought at half-time that we had to get a bit more forward play into our game. I had to change it and we did alright in the second-half, but we conceded poor goals early on and let’s not kid ourselves, Manchester United deserved to win. There were positives. Thomas made some good saves, Gabby will be boosted by his goal and I thought Milan played very well indeed and that’s probably the best 45 minutes we’ve had from him this season.’

Lets face it, we are light years behind Man Utd, we were never likely to win anything, now our season re-starts, lets hope for some points, a loss next Saturday isn’t worth contemplating!

Keep the faith!
