Martin O’Neill Stands By Players

Martin O’Neill has quite rightly stood by his players following the rather dull 1-1 draw with Fulham.

He told Sky Sports ‘Well we still remain unbeaten, so that’s to our credit. If you’d mentioned that to me that we’d be going nine games into The Premiership unbeaten then I would have taken it, obviously. The blip that you talk about is I think it was just the fact that we played pretty poorly on Saturday. The lack of opportunities we created during the course of the game made it a poor performance from us.’

Adding: ‘We have to try and put it right. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves we are unbeaten and that isn’t too bad. The game against Tottenham, we’ve debated that. We have to do something about it and we’re going to try and win (against Leicester in the League Cup on Tuesday night). I’m not going to be incredibly critical at the moment because they have done so well since the start of the season.’

I think some of us Villa fans have to look back at the start we made last season before worrying, although the draw was dull, this is just the start of a long and exciting journey with O’Neill and RAL!
