The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game against Southampton this midweek.

Aston Villa travel to Southampton on Wednesday October 28 in the Capital One Cup fourth round tie at St Mary’s and the match carries a 7.45pm kick off.

Referee: Keith Stroud
Linesmen: Simon Beck and Derek Eaton
Fourth Official: Dean Whitestone

Match Day referee Stroud (Hampshire) has officiated one Villa game so far this season – the two one defeat to Crystal Palace. In that game he showed six yellow cards – three a piece.

He has however already taken in thirteen other matches so far in 2015-16 and in those games, across all competitions and Football divisions, he has handed out a total of 45 yellow cards and 1 red cards.

He was most card happy in the match between West Bromwich Albion and Port Vale in the Capital One Cup on August 25 with a total of eight yellows being shown.

Let`s hope it`s not another repeat and more of our players edge closer to automatic bans.
