Paul Lambert has hailed the consistency of Matthew Lowton and backed him to get even better now his debut Premiership campaign is over.

Speaking to the Official Site about our Goal of the Season Award winner, Lambert said he expects the 24 year old to keep his feet on the ground and to continue to improve this coming season.

‘I’m pretty sure the praise he’s been getting is terrific for Matty himself, but the most important thing is you don’t rest on that. It’s important you do it year after year. He’s an unassuming lad, you know what you’re going to get with his consistent performances.’

Lambert again contradicted the media speculation by saying we only signed him for a million pounds or so, and if Lowton can again prove himself this season and learn from some mistakes last campaign Lambert says that England recognition is ‘entirely in his own hands’.
