Tony McAndrew was overjoyed with the Fulham performance and was proud to see so many Academy graduates shining on the Premier League stage.

Speaking on the Official Site McAndrew said he was delighted to see Albrighton, Bannan, Delfouneso and Clark play important parts in the game, and seeing the Academy have an impact on the substitutes bench with Hogg and Lichaj was also pleasing.

‘We’re so proud of them all. Saturday was everything this job is about for us, that is what really gives us a buzz.’

As the season started Albie was taking all the headlines, now Clark has got himself into the act with solid performances, even when selected out of position in the defensive midfielder role but Bannan certainly stole the limelight against Fulham with a consummate midfield display.

‘You had to drag Barry off the training ground, all he wanted to do was practice. You don’t get anywhere without hard work and Barry has worked hard to get himself as big and strong as he can. I am really pleased to see him in the team.’

With players dropping like flies at the moment we certainly need the youngsters to step up and stamp their authority on the game, but hopefully the disappointment they felt against Fulham will spur them all on to kill teams off so they don’t feel like that again.
