Alex McLeish has said he doesn’t believe that Villa will suffer relegation this season, but he appreciates that the media will talk about it.

Speaking to Sky Sports about the prospect of successive relegations, McLeish was adamant that he didn’t believe it was a fate that would befall Villa:

‘I don’t believe it will happen. That is my school of thought. I know the media will bring it up, that’s fine, I can handle that. It will maybe be on the tip of everyone’s tongue, but it’s not something I believe will happen. Every week will be a battle but we are only three points of West Brom and have a game in hand.’

McLeish adds that the players went through this last season so they know what is required to get us out of it, but to be frank some of the seniors could do with knowing they aren’t too good or too big a name to go down given their performances so far this season.

hand to mouth calling

It’s certainly in our hands, and I don’t believe we will go down either, but we need to see continued improvement in the games to come and we need to start performing and winning games or we’ll let the small safety net we have slip away.

And then it’ll be anybodies guess.

Oh well, why not cheer yourself up and take a look at our Bumper Alex McLeish Thread.
