Well, the pundits tore us apart today through the game v Manchester City. It was sad to hear, especially when what they were saying was hard to disagree with.

The stats for this game aren’t pretty (see match stats on the home page) but nor is this new record.

No win in seven games at home, UPDATED via the Villa historian Lergy:

In fact, the 7 games without win at home is the worst record *ever* in the top flight! Though Turner managed 7 in 1985-86, McLeish’s record including 5 defeats is the worst on record – Turner’s run included just 4 defeats.

Just how important are our next four games?

After that we face the big boys, but before we have
Wigan away, Blackburn away, Fulham at home and Bolton at home.

(Arsenal), Chelsea, (Liverpool), Stoke and then (Man Utd) follow. (Away games) and no, I’m not calling Stoke one of the big boys, they are just sandwiched between the two games!

Got to get at least 9 points out of the next 12 surely?

Sadly Eck’s post match interview has done nothing to ingratiate himself with the fans either. I don’t think today we could count ourselves as unlucky. As Chris Coleman said, Man City didn’t get out of third or fourth gear.
