Alex McLeish has hailed an outstanding performance from the team in today’s shock 3-1 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to the Official Site as Villa ended a bad year on a fantastic highlight, the manager said.
‘That was a fantastic result, the players were outstanding. Stephen must have caught everyone’s eye, he was excellent, he has to take that forward – that has to be the standard for every game.’
McLeish didn’t only focus on Ireland for praise, as he continued to describe Gabby has brilliant as he worked his socks off for the team despite that missed opportunity, as too was N’Zogbia who he described as electric at points.
Most from the forum thread would be surprised to hear him praise Albrighton for his role today given he wasn’t at his best, but McLeish explains.
‘Marc had a more ‘working’ role, countering the threat of Cole. It was a brilliant, disciplined performance from the young kid.’
