Olof Mellberg is looking for a win on Wednesday to give Villa fans something to cheer about a mere 5 1/2 weeks since our last home game!

The bearded wonder said: ‘It’s not only home games, it’s been a massive gap overall. It’s strange in the middle of the season to have such a huge break. It was strange before the Fulham game to have three weeks off in February, which is right when you’re in the middle of the season and then after that we’ve had another break before Arsenal. But we’ve been strong over our last few home games and now we’ve got six home games and four away games left.’

‘If we can try to nick a few points away and keep winning at home, we’ll hopefully climb to the top half of the table.’

He also says things are changing for the better at Villa: ‘It’s been a positive atmosphere the whole season – even though we haven’t really had the results we wanted in the last few months. I think it was a positive change before the season, with the new manager coming in and the new owner coming in. We’ve seen things happening with new signings and the training ground is coming along, which they’ve been talking about for many years.’

‘There are good things happening and in the end it’s up to us players to perform on the pitch and give the club results as well.’
