Olof Mellberg says that Sweden won’t give up in their quest to knock the World Cup hosts Germany out of the tournament in this afternoons clash (4pm ko).

The Sweden and Villa skipper told avfc

‘Germany will be the toughest team we have played so far.’

HOW DARE YOU!

‘But we dominated the second half against England and if we can take that performance into this match, we have a great chance. We have scored late goals in our last couple of games and we are a team who never knows when they are beaten.’

The official site also says that with Kim Kallstrom, Henrik Larsson, Freddie Ljungberg, Christian Wilhelmsson and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all being in front of Mellberg in the penalty kicking stakes, Olof might just miss out on the agony if the match goes to a shoot out.

Lets face it, Villa players don’t have a great record with penalties at the World Cup, do they Gareth!? 🙁

  • Hey Fear, I live in Norway and Norwegian girls are quite like Swedish ones. Lots of guys walking around with whiplash from quick turns of the head :o)

  • after that performance i think mellburg spent more time getting used to his new surroundings for next season rather than playing football.

  • Not too sorry that he/they are out. Put a decent bet on the Germans pre-tournament to win the whole thing, so I’m still in there smiling. Pretty girl though, agree about that.
