Mick McCarthy IS NOT Coming To Villa

Ok, right… I won`t link to this particular article because it is ridiculous. Mick McCarthy is not being lined up, will not be on the Villa short list and is not in contact and coming to Villa Park any day soon. He would know that, the Club will know that, the paper should know that and to be fair, the fans on facebook/twitter etc going mental about it should know that.

YES… a mistake was made last season. Fine.

It isn`t going to be repeated.

Look at some of the quotes from Paul Faulkner recently. They know what happened last year, you can see that from the statement and yes, they didn`t listen… etc etc. Have you never made mistakes? Have you never been let down? They took a gamble, it didn`t work, in the long run it might work out for us as this will have shocked them and totally re-focused them I would think. As he says, we were too close for comfort to relegation instead of fighting for Europe.

‘Look at the size of the club, infrastructure, the training ground, the academy. It`s one of the best in the country.” Adding, “I think there`s an awful lot of reasons you would want to come to Villa. Our stadium is one of the best in the country, we have a fantastic owner who loves the club , the club`s history, the fans are phenomenal – why would you not want to come here?”

The Independent quote the CEO:

‘We want to find someone to reinvigorate the club,’

Again, they know it went wrong. Even the Club statement >> Click Here admits mistakes have been made. Randy Lerner said in it:

‘We need to be clear and candid with ourselves and with supporters about what we have lacked in recent years. Compelling play and results that instil a sense of confidence that Villa is on the right track have been plainly absent.

Paul has admitted they went for the wrong man, we now have to afford them the right to have made a mistake and to put it right, they have acted swiftly to remove McLeish and won`t be wanting the same situation this time next year.

He said: ‘It’s using hindsight. If we were happy with mediocrity or a season like this, then we wouldn’t be making changes.’

So panic not. There will be loads of mischief in the press, they will act as if they have it all, but until you see an announcement on the official site, no matter how well connected or not, we are all just speculating. To be perfectly honest, this is one of the parts of football I absolutely adore, I love looking at the records of managers, the links, the excitement and the will they, won`t they.

But on this one, total hogwash, not happening, move along… NEXT!

And yes, I did say similar last year re: McLeish. I knew for a fact at the point I asked he`d not been approached and put 2+2 together saying he won`t be, or he won`t approach. However, once in the press through the summer saying ‘mission impossible` and ‘they won`t` it was done more of an arrogant or forlorn hope that if enough people said it was mad, it would look mad and wouldn`t happen. It was worth a try but as said, was a bit arrogant really! You would also have to say, even though I`m not about to defend him, McLeish had more of a pedigree than Mick who has basically always managed the lower league types. McLeish obviously had had big jobs ie Rangers and international job with Scotland. Oh and even though the attempt didn`t work, it was right, it was mission impossible!
