Aston Villa have been tentatively linked with Hibernian midfielder John McGinn for a while now, but their gaffer Neil Lennon has confirmed he has now made the trip down to Birmingham to meet manager Steve Bruce and presumably to undergo a medical.

Celtic are also in the hunt for him and it appears both clubs have had offers accepted by the Easter Road outfit, but we are believed to be in pole position for his capture according to the BBC.

The 23-year-old has nine caps to his name for Scotland having made his debut against Denmark back in March 2016 and he is highly rated in Scotland with well over 200 appearances to his name for Hibs and St Mirren despite his tender age.

He’s also picked up 20 goals in his time which would be a bonus if he could adjust to the Championship and we get him.

“John went down to Birmingham. A fee has been agreed. I don’t know if personal terms have been agreed yet. I think John met him for dinner last night and I think he was very impressed with what Steve had to say. I think the process is well down the line. I don’t know if John’s head has been turned by Villa but as far as I’m aware they are in a really strong position in terms of getting his services.”

We’re also being linked with Watford striker Isaac Success – prepare your standard jokes – the 22-year-old hasn’t really stood out at Vicarage Road though despite his £12odd million signing from Granada. He failed to score in a loan spell with Malaga last year, so maybe he’s the new Emile Heskey?
